This weekend I checked off a huuugeee item of fun off my list that was long overdue – a weekend visit to see my high school bestie, Madeline, at her Fort Worth stomping grounds. Madeline is absolutely brilliant and studies psychology at Texas Christian University. We met freshman year of high school due an embarrassing wardrobe mix up of mine – involving the mistaking of a black skort for a pair of what should’ve been black shorts for a big performance – and the rest is history!
This girl was the perfect hostess and knew where all the tasty treats across the city were – needless to say we totally indulged. One of my favorite places of the whole visit was an amazing wine bar called Kent & Co. Madeline and I had been wanting to check out a wine bar for quite awhile, and couldn’t have been more satisfied with our pick of this one that she had been eyeing.
Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly, and the wine list was incredibly impressive. We each tried a couple glasses of different red wines and then shared an Artisan Cheese Board that included nuts, dried fruit, baguette slices, and three kinds of cheese. All absolutely delightful. I definitely plan to go back whenever I’m in the area, and highly recommend it!
Another place I fell in love with was this hip little ice cream shop called Melt off Rosedale Avenue. The bright yellow color scheme radiates sunshine and the inside decor could make anyone smile. We both sampled a couple of flavors, but ultimately decided on Salt Lick – a house made salted caramel that was just too good to pass up. One of the coolest things about our visit? It was the shop’s first anniversary – Happy Birthday Melt!
We squeezed in a whole bunch in roughly 36 hours and I loved every bit of it. Madeline has the most adorable house that looks like it jumped off a Pinterest board, lovely roomies to share it with, and made sure I got a chance to see all the city’s trendy areas. Later this week, I’ll have to share some more good eats and stops from my visit.
Happy Monday, friends!
