Lollapalooza Part Deux

Ah so my big final presentation for my internship is done and went well! I am so thankful and proud of the end result I was able to share with my team. Can’t believe I’m down to the last few days of my time in the city – I’m ready to make the most of it.

That being said, having my summer project finished means more time to talk about the fabulous weekend that was Lollapalooza. The roomies and I had an absolute blast. On Friday and Saturday the weather was gorgeous, I felt so spoiled as I thought about a couple years back when I melted outside in October for a day at Austin City Limits. Sunday it was pretty rainy unfortunately. That didn’t stop us from having a good time, but it did stop us from keeping our shoes clean. I mean, just imagine a ginormous field of what you see below.

They look so clean compared to the final result.

The rain can’t stop us.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the layout of all the stages. It was hard for me to picture the fountain and park I ran through all the time as a spaced out music arena. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the layout worked and well organized the music was. My favorite stage was called The Grove, a medium sized set up surrounded by trees.

One of the real treats at Lolla is the people watching. Airports have always been my number one place for that, but music festivals are now a close second. All sorts of people, from all over, and all sorts of crazy. I loved being surrounded by all the diversity.

Exiting for good and I finally got a picture with this sign!

Being there really reminded me of how powerful music is. The sense of community it brings to thousands of strangers. You just feel the magic as you’re all there together, clapping and cheering to rhythms and words that fuel the soul. Such an incredible feeling. This was without a doubt one of the best ways I could think to wrap up my time in the city.

By Day 3, our bodies were exhausted. Turns out it’s a lot of work to stand up for 10 hours nonstop three days in a row. But 100% worth it in this case. Sunday we all slept so well! Lollapalooza was definitely an experience I would participate in again.

Half way though the week…I’m so torn…Whataburger sounds pretty awesome right now…but like don’t make me leave.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
