I feel as though I completed a rite of passage as a Chicago resident this week. Wednesday evening after work, Becca, her friend Sean, and I decided to head on over to the legendary Wrigley Field for a Chicago Cubs game! The stadium is actually celebrating its 100th birthday this year, so it was super cool to check out all the excitement.
The Cubs played the Cincinnati Reds and I was conflicted with who to root for. Naturally, I think we would’ve all cheered on the Cubs, but since Becca and Sean are from Ohio, we all ended up pretty neutral – them, to be loyal to their home state, and me, to be a supportive friend haha.
At the game, we grabbed some Italian sausage and huddled together to stay warm in our seats. It was windy and chilly – I keep being so thrown off by this Midwest summer! Especially because this one has been strange not only for me, but for the natives as well. Apparently all this fog, rain, and lack of sunny days ties back to the crazier than normal winter they experienced. Nonetheless, I am enjoying every moment of the not-so-scorching heat and pretty city.
Aaaand looks like that’s a wrap to Week 4 at the internship – lots of productivity, a couple great trainings where we got to interact with agency leaders, and a FIFA match viewing during lunch on Thursday to cheer on the good ‘ol U.S. of A. – yay for advancing!
Happy Friday everyone!
