Wow, I can’t believe this weekend has come and gone! I’m happy to say settling into my Chicago apartment was a total success. I love the place and the location – everything I need is in the area or easy to get to! I really think it will be perfect for my time here this summer. My parents came along for move-in and hung around for a couple days. Not only would it have been a lot more difficult to get everything I need here, and locate places to stock up on the essentials, but my first few days in Chicago would not have been the same. I am so thankful to have two amazing people who love me so much for a mom and dad. After spending most of Friday afternoon completing the move-in process, we ran some errands to wrap it all up. All the Texans know how crucial HEB is, so I was concerned for my survival coming to a land without it. But…all is well because Trader Joe’s and an impressive grocery store called Jewel Osco will keep me going! Also, did you know City Targets have separate escalators for the shopping carts?? You just push that little baby into the cart track and hop on with the humans on the other escalator along side it. It was strange, yet intriguing. The rest of the weekend was spent walking all around the city and eating lots of yummy food. I was so happy to spend the time laughing away with my parents and snapping some pictures! The weather is perfect, it’s unreal. The city is beautiful, I can’t wait to really dive in and explore.
It was also an exciting couple of days because the Chicago Blackhawks were doing really well in the NHL Playoffs! I’ll admit, I jumped on the bandwagon and rooted for these guys. Besides, I feel like being a Chicago resident now (even if temporarily), makes it okay to jump in on the local spirit. Hockey players are impressive – it would take me all of 0.0 seconds to end up on my butt in this game. I’m sad they lost their chance to advance to the championship last night, but I’ll be cheering them on next year! Ahhhh, well today kicks off my internship – a big ball of nervousness and excitement is currently residing within me, but I am ready to get started. Happy Monday everyone!
welcome and good luck
Thank you!
